In the shadow of the whispering cypresses of Hafezieh, where every breeze carries an ancient tale, our responsibility weighed heavier than mere construction. Here, we had to build something that wouldn't feel like an uninvited guest, but rather as if it had been part of the landscape for centuries.
The result was a shallow‑arch passageway, hewn from local stone, its hues a quiet chorus with the region's soil and ancient bricks.
Our goal was reverence. Reverence for the silence of poetry, the dignity of history, and the feeling every visitor discovers in this sacred space. We didn't want to build a "show‑off" bridge. We aimed to create an invisible facilitator, whose sole purpose is to ease the gentle movement of people through beauty without ever drawing attention to itself. The outcome was a respectful dialogue between contemporary architecture and ancient heritage.
Our greatest challenge was fear. The fear that a single misstep, a loud noise, or an incongruous material could violate the sanctity of this place. How do you stand next to history and leave no trace? We employed hand‑crafted construction methods and low‑noise tools. Every stone was selected and set with meticulous care. Even our lighting was medicinal: warm, indirect glow that illuminates the path, not its own source, allowing moonlight to remain the primary poet of the night.
